 Dr. Sherman S. Watkins was born in West Virginia to James and Mattie Lee Watkins on July 3, 1936.He began his pastorate in March 1970, when he founded Greater Emmanuel Apostolic Church of God, 517 St. Clair Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. In May 1988 Dr.Watkins organized Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, Inc. and has established satellite churches throughout the United States and the Philippines. He is highly esteemed and respected among fellow workers throughout the United States. He has contributed many long hours toward improving today's society, both in the spiritual and natural realms. |

Bishop Watkins has been honored by the Mayor of the City of Columbus, members of the Columbus City Council, the House of Representatives of the 113th General Assembly of Ohio, as well as the Four Acres Realty Company, for his dedication and sincerity exhibited in carrying out his services to the community. Dr. Watkins has a most profound love for the Lord and His people. His daily walk before men is a mirrored reflection of the countless hours he spends in prayer and the study of the Word. His character and mannerisms reflect his life as an ambassador called by the most High God. He has been charged to bring God to men and men to God. Because of his love for God, he has been highly anointed to preach the Gospel and is in great demand throughout the country. Yet, God has especially charged him with the call of pastor, which has always been his first priority. Any compliments, praise, or honor given to Dr. Watkins, he kindly and passionately lays immediately at the feet of Jesus. |
